Cobalt is an international airline with its principal place of business in Cyprus. The airline currently flies to 20 destinations across 12 countries. It is the largest airline from the Republic of Cyprus and the only Cypriot airline with both an IATA membership and an IOSA certification.
Our challenge was to build a slick, mobile-first responsive website that emphasised the search engine feature for better user-experience. Each section had to be clearly defined, and the user journey had to be mapped out in a straightforward manner. The entire website had to be refined extensively, to result in a user-friendly, beautiful design that communicated the Cypriot identity of the airline.
We made the main feature of the home page the search engine, to help visitors easily search for one-way or return flights, car hire, and hotels. The search engine was placed on top of a carousel of hero images which alternate every few seconds and show different destinations, and feature CTAs such as “Book Now.”
A menu bar across the top of the home page allows visitors to quickly navigate to the Offers page, where they can find a listing of different destinations, presented in the form of photographs. Each photograph features a banner that carries the name of the city and the starting price for flights to that particular destination. The menu bar also grants easy access to a Flights section, Booking, Journey, and About Us.
THE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
Cobalt Website is definitely one of the best Opium Works projects in terms of both web design and development.
It was built on Drupal 8, it contains a variety of display elements that look wonderful, animated sliders with very nice images focusing on Cobalt’s destinations and offers that are very attractive to the visitors.
Beyond that, the website contains a very nice booking widget, through which visitors can search for flights, based on their preferences.
Finally, we have created very helpful CMS features for our client to be able to upload and manage the content of the website, choosing form a variety of nice elements on how to present the content. There are many nice ways for the content to be presented within each page, including, columns, tables, tabs, accordions, images and many more.
WHY IT WORKED
The end result was a navigable, clean website design that made for great user experience. Apart from clearly dividing and indicating each section of the website, a “Talk to a Sales Agent” CTA has also been placed near the scrollbar, that stays in place despite scrolling. Contact phone numbers, social media icons, and a Subscribe to Newsletter button have all been placed near the bottom of the page. All this encourages visitors to connect with the airline and to stay in touch for future communication as well.
