In 2006 CTCARI (part of the ARI group) began the remarkable development of both Paphos and Larnaca Airports, transforming them into world class Airports with world class facilities and a unique retail environment – Cyprus Airports Duty Free. Opium Works was appointed to take over the social media channels, with the aim to attract tourists but also at the same time, entice local audiences. For the introductory phase, we were challenged to promote Duty Free without customised content.
We integrated generic, stock visuals into our strategy to seamlessly introduce the brand and raise awareness. For phase two, we launched photography campaigns and elevated the brand's presence on a global scale and with precision. A strong visual and verbal architecture allowed us to expedite consumer navigation, enhance brand presence and amplify sales. We also leveraged influencers who had a large following in a particular niches and co–created content.
We also run weekly competitions targeting Russians in Cyprus. In a 3 month period, we aided to a 1,7K increase in Instagram followers and 121% higher engagement on Facebook.
